Starting October 2025, Microsoft Edge on Windows will begin rolling out the Adobe-powered PDF viewer as the default for enterprise users. Rollout finishes March 2026. Admins can still opt out via policyโฆ but only until June 2026. After that, resistance is indeed futile.
What changes?
โข Same UI, but powered by Adobe under the hood
โข Better performance, accessibility, and compatibility
โข Exclusive enterprise-grade features baked in
Honestly, this is the right move. Microsoft building and maintaining its own PDF reader always felt like a side quest. Let Adobe do what Adobe does, and let Edge focus on being a browser.
